Decent place to visit. It's basically a former political prison. The place holds incredible value for Romania's history, but in my opinion the information is not laid out in a manner that would facilitate retention. There is just so much text that's plastered everywhere that people just walk by it without taking the time to read it. So much information is lost in this manner! Since it's a former prison, each cell tries to capture an important moment in Romania's bloody decent into communism. Again, the idea is great but the amount of text is off-putting to most and impossible for foreigners to understand. Maybe adding audio guides would better ensure that the main points are delivered in a more palatable manner to the visitor.

Breathtaking. Extremely well documented, the exposition makes one emotional, almost bursting into tears. We must never forget how harmful the communism was, not only in Romania. Most of the exponates descriptions are translated also in english.

Need to check on your travel list! A big opportunity to revise your knowledge about Romanian communist era. A lot of info about the repression during the 50’s-70’s. A mix of info, a lot to digest. You need at least 2-3h to visit the place.

A lot of information and a unique place to learn more about communist era suffering. Too bad the only info in English is a booklet that feels like a history book.
