Although small and perhaps not very interesting for some, this museum is a treasure that tells those who are really passionate about the history of over 100 years of the first aragonite exploitation in the country. The story is related to the saga of Knopp Vencel, a specialist in sanding invited to teach at a trade school in Zlatna, who discovered and appreciated the value of aragonite veins in Corund, famous for its rock quality, transparency and whitish-green color. Many private collections in Europe and even the USA have objects from aragonite polished in the workshop where the museum is now located. Interestingly, the most valuable copies made to order were made in duplicate, by two different teams. This means that now we can admire a jewelry box designed and ordered by Queen Maria, who stayed a few days in Sovata with the suite, waiting for the piece to finish. Warm thanks to Zoltan Pal, the one who maintains the flame of passion for these things, who told us in one hour all that is most interesting and the one who tries to carry on the tradition of sanding in this fairytale town.
