Wonderful place for a vast amount of paintings and sculptures, with a rich variety of authors and time periods. Some of the paintings are truly beautiful and breathtaking. Also the palace is a work of art in itself. Must see if in Cluj-Napoca.

Constant surveying from the museum personnel who follow you everywhere to make sure you don’t do things you shouldn’t, like taking photos (they don’t tell you from the get-go about the additional fee of 15 lei for taking photos so make sure to pay it in the beginning since the entrance ticket is cheap anyway). The floorboard was screeching and squeaking all over, which pays tribute to the old building of the museum, but you can hear the prying eyes moving and tracking you everywhere which kind of makes you feel not at all welcome which ruins the experience.
A beautiful place that you must visit, friendly stuff and great things to see! You must have a blanket, a book, something to drink and it may be the best day of your life! Have fun!
Located in the city center, Banffy Palace hosts not only the Art Museum, but some awesome events in his spacious yard. The Art Museum is a must see for it's bohemian touch and, of course, for the galleries. Regarding the events which take place in the Palace's yard, usually they are music events, social events, all kind of little festivals and concerts.
Smalle but nice collection of paintings and sculptures, that provides an interesting overview of the regional art from the middle ages to the second world war. Also temporary exhibitions. Building is unfortunately in a bad condition. Although they were working on the facade when I visited (December 2019. Nothing to see from the original splendour of the Banffý family. Which is a shame because I think it has great potential for the region & the city.
A good museum, but to be honest it was kind of lacking. Only 2 expositions to see. The expositions themselves were beautiful and worth seeing if you happen to stumble upon the museum, as you can visit in about half an hour to an hour and have the time to read everything available.
The architecture of the building it is situated in is interesting, and there are some paintings by famous Romanian artists, but I expected to see more paintings, maybe some by internationally painters, which was not the case.
