Zaharul Oradea SA is a subsidiary of Pfeifer & Langen - a group of companies based in Cologne - Germany, with over 140 years experience in sugar industry. The factory in Oradea ran the first refining campaign in 1968. Following a continuous investment plan in process automation and equipment refurbishing, the production capacity increased up to 1000 tons/day of white crystallized sugar from beet and raw sugar. The factory supplies items to the manufacturing industry, e.g. refined sugar in different grain sizes (from very fine to coarse), and various retail products. The mother company, originally founded in 1870 by the industrialists Emil Pfeifer, Eugen Langen and Valentin Pfeifer, is one of the major sugar producers in Europe, operating production, packing and distribution sites in 11 countries.
