The Serbian Episcopal Orthodox Cathedral (Catedrala Ortodoxă Sârbă) is a mid-18th-century Baroque architectural style Orthodox church located in the historic Union Square (Piața Unirii) of Timisoara, Romania. The magnificent cathedral signifies the great importance the religious Orthodox faith played to the ethnic Serbian population that has thrived in Timisoara for many decades. From its founding to the present day the church has been a pivotal worship center for the Orthodox faithful in Banat. Today the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, which was designated a Romanian historic monument in 1964, serves as a primary worship center to many of the estimated 7,000 Serbs that live in Timisoara. The cathedral is located in the west portion of Union Square, one of the busiest and most visited tourist destinations of the city. Because of its location, and because of its amazing history and beautiful architecture, the church also receives an influx of yearly tourism and is cemented as one of the top must-see sites in the city.

Српска православна црква, класичног изгледа за српске цркве које се налазе на територији централне и северне Србије, и на тај начин се уклапа са остатком градске архитектуре. Нисмо успели да уђемо у њу, затворена је била. Штета што није окренута ка тргу, много лепше би изгледало, предпостављам да је због обичаја главног улаза тако, али могла је бити пројектована и са свим једнаким странама рецимо са осмовом уписаног крста.
Catedrala Ortodoxă Sârbă din Timișoara, declarată monument istoric din 1964 , se află in Piata Unirii langă sediul Episcopiei Ortodoxe Sârbe de Timișoara. Fosta biserică a comunității ortodoxe din Timișoara a fost mistuită de un incendiu în anul 1728, reconstruită fiind in perioada 1744 -1748 în stil baroc, cu ajutorul donațiilor credincioșilor. Initial biserica a fost folosită de ambele comunităti , sarbă si română dar în urma separării celor două biserici, aceasta a ramas comunității sârbe.
O catedrala foarte frumoasa!
Hier wird renoviert - leider ist das Objekt noch nicht fertig und zudem verschlossen. Könnte was werden und ist dann vielleicht auch mehr Punkte wert.
