Awesome coding school! It makes learning to code affordable and fast, if you are okay with working in a team and studying. They provide countless resources and they're not overbearing(like normal school is).

For me, Codecool offered an opportunity I was long waiting for: 12 months of real and intense study with the option to pay for the course after getting hired. I only wish Codecool came to Romania before. The self-mastery learning, where you study home without someone teaching and explaining on a whiteboard it's preparing you for a life of continuous learning and that's what programming is about. The projects we do in the team work weeks prepare you for your future job environment and for working efficiently in a team using Agile methodology, which most companies are using in the industry. I started the course with the first students in September 2019 and now I'm in the Job Hunt module where I continue to study and I prepare for interviews. I recommended the course to some of my friends and I am sure that for me, this course was one of the best opportunities in my life. The environment is very supportive and friendly, the curriculum and structure are taking into account most of the things you need to know for starting to build a career in programming. Of course, you need to put in some effort. You need to focus several hours each day, to enjoy programming, to enjoy learning, to learn how to learn, to be open, to be positive, to listen, to persevere, to develop good habits and good time management, to learn how, where and when to ask for help. The school is helping you with most of these too, with growth mindset, time management workshops, and at least in my case with a lot of emotional support from mentors and staff too, to keep me motivated even when the pandemic hit and we all adapted to online work.
Courses are not for everyone in the sense that you need to be committed to dedicate a lot of your time for keeping up with the course. Also, the course is entirely different from a university course in the sense that it encourages student collaboration and cooperation to help eachother learn. Areas to improve would be the curriculum instructions and a lot more concrete examples from the mentors would be welcome during workshops. However, soft skills development is on a massively superiour level compared to a unoversity degree or online udemy course. Yes there are ares of improvement. However, for a school on their second year here in Bucharest they are on to a great start. Hence the five star rating.
It is probably the only institution in the Romanian educational environment - whether public or private - that actively cares what happens with its graduates. Codecool's goal of getting a person from no IT experience to junior developer is for real. The study materials, the various mentors (specialized in different programming languages), the HR, the PR, the Marketing departments, all give the hard and soft skills needed to get a job in the IT specialty chosen by the student. The challenge is whether you, the future student, can sacrifice a whole year of your life, concentrating on 8 hours of study and practice per day or more, because basically you do - or at least you try - in 1 year what a licensed programmer does in 4 years at university.
Daca esti genul care asteapta ca \la barza chioara ii face Dumnezeu cuib\ vei fi profund dezamagit . INSA, daca urmaresti sa ai cu tine un bagaj de cunostinte , solide, actuale pe piata muncii si pe baza carora sa-i construiesti un viitor atunci pui urechea la ce te invata oamenii astia si la directia pe care ti-o dau fara sa mai astepti sa se roage \doamna\ de tine si sa te intrebe de ce nu ti-ai facut tema pentru azi. Traim intr-o perioada in care fiecare e pe barba lui si in care nu trage nimeni de tine sa devii versiunea ta cea mai buna. Acela trebuie sa fii chiar tu. Deci, la scoala asta inveti sa inveti singur si sa fii pe picioarele tale si pentru asta merita tot respectul!
Nici nu stiu de unde sa incep.. :)) fast forword din 17 persoane cat am fost in grupa cred ca au ramas 3-4 persoane. Se alcatuia o grupa noua la doua saptamani, cand aveai nevoie de ajutor nu prea era nici un asa zis \mentor\ disponibil. De ce? Pai e simplu, aduna persoane in mod excesiv si nu fac fata solicitarilor, la inceput vorbe frumoase, cai verzi pe pereti.. A da si nu iti explica nimeni nimic, trebuie sa iti bati tu capul.. ca de metoda ultra-fantastica-revolutionara. Te inscrii numai ca dupa o luna/doua sa iti dai seama ca o sa platesti 300 lei asa ca ai prea multi )) PS: ce PENAL, le spuneti cursantilor sa va dea recenzii pozitive... respect, pup!
