A monumental monument (sic!) dedicated to a special character of the toRomanian history, Alexandru Ioan Cuza (1820-1873). He was prince of Moldavia, prince of Wallachia, and later domnitor (Ruler) of the Romanian Principalities from 1859 to 1866 . He was a prominent figure of the Revolution of 1848 in Moldavia and initiated a series of reforms that contributed to the modernization of Romanian society and of state structures. He was also a controversial politician, he had a difficult marriage with his wife (Elena, a noble woman from the Rosetti family) and various other problems... But, even so, he was a huge and powerful personality!
