It is considered to be the oldest church in the city of Suceava . \St. George\ in Suceava, also known as the Mirauti Church is an Orthodox church built in the XIV century. The technical similarities and presence of glazed bricks (on the floor and ancient tombs inside the church), the same as those found in Citadel of Suceava, lead to the conclusion that the church was built during the reign of Petru I Musat (1375-1391). From then up to 1522 it was the coronation church for Moldavia, during which time it was also the metropolitan cathedral. That status was lost after when the building was sacked, and the newly completed St John the New Monastery took on the role. A full reconstruction didn’t take place for another 100 years, followed by a more complete renovation at the end of the 19th century. This is when the current frescoes of saints and bible scenes were painted, while in the floor is a glass panel that lets you peer into the crypt.

Absolutely beautiful ! The young lad who explained the history of the church and its paintings was super nice. 10/10 would recommand going there.
This is a hidden jewel really close to the fortress. Here also lies Petru Musat's crypt (inside the curch). There is also a unique way of interior painting that this 15th century curch has.

Un loc sfânt și vechi de cca 500 de ani.
Una dintre cele mai frumoase Biserici din Municipiul Suceava..am vizitat o acum la inceput de primavara 2019..Biserica purtand Hramul Sfantului Gheorghe are valoare istorica si este situata pe Strada Mirauti chiar in centrul Municipiului resedinta de judet..foarte frumos in gradina curatenie si liniste..Merita vizitata..am ramas placut impresionat cu toate ca sunt sucevean..
