It's a nice place to visit for the scenery. The people there are best avoided. The priest came out of the church to tell us not to wander around there for more than 20 minutes! That we should go inside the church and support them(with money) He also manifested regret that it was Sunday otherwise he would have asked us to rake the leaves you would expect these people of god to be better people than this. Unfortunaly they resemble filthy merchants more and more these days

My parents tried to visit the monastery with my daughter today at 2pm. Thery were not allowed to pass as the abbot decided to close for the rest of the day, however with 6 hours before the closing hour just because he is tired. Unfortunately such a beautiful place is not managed properly and the attitude of the persons in charge blocking the passage (with the approval of the priest abbot that was siting behind) is hard to be described.

A great and a interesting tour on the island. Nice view from the bridge on the path to the Snagov Monastery Plenty of time to see and take photos and videos during the tour. Nice art inside (cost for photos and videos). You can see the The tomb of Vlad the Impaler (Dracula).

Nice monestary. Rumored to contain the remains of Vlad the Impalor. They were in the process of building a new bridge to get to the island, but was already open to visitors with some makeshift stairs. Very well kept and even has some ponies.

My journey to Snagov Monastery was everything I hoped it would be. Parking was easy, there's a free lot near the entrance to the bridge. Be warned: there's an old man who wanders around outside the lot promising to \watch your car\ while you're in the monastery. He's perfectly harmless and really just wants a few leu. It's like 40 cents, I think you can afford it to make an old man smile. When I was crossing the bridge to get to the island, it was under construction, but I had no problems getting across. The island itself was beautiful and quiet the entire time I was there, no other tourists arrived, so I guess I came on the right day. There was a young boy who took my entrance fee (I think it was 5 leu, but I gave him a 10 and told him to keep the change as a tip. Literally 4 folks...). After taking my fee, he opened the doors of the sanctuary building and let me on my own. I was able to walk around and really take my time looking at all the amazing murals and religious icons in the sanctuary. I took as many pictures and videos as I wanted with no problems. There's an information board with info mostly in Romanian, but there are a lot of pictures, so you can kind of get the gist. The island itself is a pleasure to walk around and you can do so on your own while admiring the architecture of the building. There is a little dock on the south side of the island where you can get an excellent view of the lake and the opposite shore. I believe there's an old government palace across the shore, which is now a public community building. I really enjoyed my experience at Snagov Monastery, which was my very first tourist stop in Romania, just a short drive north of Bucharest. Seeing the actual tomb of Vlad the Impaler provided me a new perspective on his life and guided me in creating the Tarot of Vlad Dracula.

Great place to visit. Snagov monastery is located on it's own island, you can reach to it via an iron bridge.

Quiet interesting. Apparently, this is where Dracula was buried. The paintings inside were beautiful. Unfortunately, there was a charge to take pics. Oh wells. Drop by of you are near by.

Thos monestary was nothing short of impressive. Secluded on an island, do lock your cars, don't give money to beggars, they actually live around there according to other locals, cross the bridge and behold the stunning brick masonry on the outside. The grounds and gardens are peaceful and serene, you can walk all around. Small entrance fee and additional fee (30rom total if I recall) to take photos and video. I paid both, worth it and goes to a good cause. They say Vlad Tepes body (only) is buried here and also regard him as the founder of the monestary. You can buy some small incense, candles, and other religious items as well. You can see the plot inside where his body supposedly is.
