This is a old but new Monastery which is situated in the middle of wilderness in a thick forest. It seemed separated from the rest of the world at the first glance but once you manage to enter the complex you discover it's huge expanding buildings. This is a beautiful place to visit and has a lot of things to offer if you visit it. It is very quiet here taking in consideration the fact that they are building a big multipurpose building. If you don't want to be disturbed by lots of people I recommend not to visit in the weekend. I went here in the middle of the week and found a few people here that didn't bothered me so much. This monastery complex has a more modern look and most of the buildings you find here are crafted with modern materials. I prefer more the rustic look of buildings but this seems to work for me. The continuous expansion of this complex gives you the feeling that this place didn't maxed out the number of marvels it has to offer. I recommend visiting this place if you are visiting Maramureș because has a good insight in the local culture and the habits of the local people.

Calm atmosphere full of spirituality. There are 11 monks looking after the monastic complex. Visitors can admire the interior paintings, the catacombs church with its famous icon, the summer altar. You can also visit the museum wooden church, the writer and monk Nicolae Steinhardt museum where his 21 books are on display and leave a donation for the 10 storey conference, future library and gallery building that is being built. A new entrance gate building is being built as of July 2019 with two massive copper bells. Well worth a visit.

Very beautiful wall paintings and icons of holy Mary ,mother of God! The new church is very clever built usind the cellar underneath for a small chapel and other meeting rooms,all in an old roman architectonic style. Outside, on the other side of the mountain slope, a new monk center is beeing built currently by the name of N. Steinhardt,former prisoner of the communist prison in Sighet and great monk and weiter.

A place to visit in the summer sunny days, a quaiet spot for tourist of all kind.
Absolutely fabulous. So much atmosphere, such deep spirituality.
Amazing drive through the forest to reach this peaceful monastery.
