I attended International poetry recital at Philharmonic Oltenia. The place wasn't as big as my expectations but small and cute place. Although the seats were too narrow for me, I enjoyed my time there.

Oltenia Philharmonic in Craiova is a renowned institution in the Romanian musical and cultural life, founded in 1904 and reorganized in 1947 by a royal decree. The Philharmonic’s orchestras are the Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra, the Academic Choir and the chamber assemblies, being ones of the most appreciated artistic instrumental ensembles of this type in Romania. The repertoires of the Philharmonic’s orchestras and guests cover a great diversity of musical works, from symphony and opera to jazz and contemporary music. Throughout the years, the Philharmonic’s orchestras were conducted by important musical personalities and collaborated with famous international soloists, and also participated in many artistic international tours. The most important annual event that the institution organizes is the International Festival “Craiova Muzicală”, which gathers important national and international artists, both in the field of symphonic and vocal – symphonic music and in the field of jazz and chamber music. The festival usually reunites concerts very different, varied and dynamic from the point of view of the reportorial structure, in order to meet the expectations of even the most exigent public.

Excellence in classical music. Oltenia Philharmonic managed to maintain a high standard throughout the years and it's one of the oldest cultural institutions of Craiova. Worth a visit.

Love the music and the place. Is right in the center, it is hard to find a parking place, would be better to park in the parking place near the theatre.
