Sad situation. Some trains have big delays.
Just choose airplane, car or even boat. Everything works faster that the Romanian Railroad
Buying tickets online is such an adventure. The website is very confusing an overall it is a waste of time. One pages tells you there are tickets available, the next one stops you from purchasing one. So annoying!
Full of corruption. Travelled all over Europe with our bicycles and this is the one place where it’s impossible to get a clear answer on the prices for bikes, they keep pushing you along until you’re stuck having to bribe the agent on the train. Many friends in the country told us similar stories of them forcing you to pay bribes for all sorts of things.
CFR ia a constant nightmare. A dark carnival of incompetente and malevolence. A truly twisted institution that gets off on people's anger. They are the energy vampires of transportation. My hate for CFR can't even truly be expressed in words. It kills my spirit every time I am forced to use their services. I am now just a husk of a man, stuck in the middle of nowhere, because the engine caught fire or something. Now I spend my eternity in limbo, hopelessly awaiting a new engine to be presumably constructed and sent to this location. If anybody reads this, tell my family I loved them. Thanks!
So bad experience, trains are so old and dirty, you cannot find a plug
I was traveling with IR trains two times in the past weeks. Each time the trains were clean and modern and the schedule was respected. The punctuality was perfect (routes from Bucharest to Prahova and Constanta at Black Sea).
