We went Sunday, around 11:00. There were not many visitors. The museum is divided in two main sections: Romanian and European art, with two or more temporary exhibitions. There is a variety of pieces of arts, mostly paintings and scuptures; some of them are truly representative for Romanian culture. We recommend this museum, as the entrance fee is really small for students, even free for arts students.
So worth the visit. I saw both the European and Romanian galleries! Beautiful collections of sculptures, paintings, and religious icons. I spent three hours but I could have easily spent two more hours. Romania is amazing and has a lot to offer.
It was a very pleasant galery of art to visit in a hot, sunny day in Bukarest.
Today we visited The Romanien Medieval Art Gallery. Over 900 icons, mural paintings, embroideries, manuscripts, silverware, woodcarvings, many of them unique, amply survey Romanian art from the 14th – to the early 19th century. Items on display showcase developments in Moldavia, Wallachia and Transylvania, reflecting the intricate manner in which a traditional Byzantine layer blended in Oriental as well as Western influences to generate original local art forms.
A beautiful museum inside the Royal Palace in Bucharest, with a great collection of art works. It's best to visit it again and again and admire and appreciate each painting for a long time.
Conservative in contemporary art, but intrestind in owerview on historical guidlines on Romanian art.
A little too modest for a national art museum.
