ABOUT HABITAT BEIUS Habitat for Humanity Beius (HFH Beius) is a nonprofit ecumenical Christian housing ministry, an affiliate of HFH International, seeking to eliminate poverty housing in the Beius community, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. HFH Beius invites people from all walks of life to work together in partnership to build homes with families in need HISTORY Founded in 1996, HFH Beius became the first Habitataffiliate in Romania, and has since helped over 300 famillies form all over the Bihor region to live in a simple, decent and affordable house. HOW DOES IT WORK ? HFH Beius renovates and builds homes in collaboration with partner families and international and local volunteer labor. Homes are then sold to partner families at no profit, and are financed with affordable, no-interest loans. HFH Beius is a hand UP, not a hand out. Partner families (families that are selected to collaborate with HFH Beius to build a home) pay back the home mortgage over 20 years at no interest, and invest till 1000 hours of sweat equity labor on other Habiat homes. The money to construct homes in Beius comes from: - International tax-deductible donations; - Grants from Habitat for Humanity International; - Local donations of construction material; - The Revolving Fund for Humanity: monthly mortgage payments from current HFH Beius homeowners.
